Morong adopts digital payments

For ease of doing business and efficient delivery of services, the Municipality of Morong has adopted digital payment for government disbursement and collection.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Morong, headed by Vice Mayor Leila Linao-Munoz passed Municipal Ordinance No. 267, “An Ordinance Prescribing the Adoption of Digital Payments for Government Disbursement and Collections in the Municipality of Morong, Bataan” and was approved by Mayor Cynthia Linao-Estanislao. The legislation was sponsored by Councilor Bienvenido V. Vicedo Jr. “All covered departments and units will utilize safe and efficient digital disbursement on payment of goods, services and other disbursements, including in the distribution of financial benefits, aids and assistance to its constituents, as well as in the payment of salaries, wages, allowances and other compensation to employees”, stated in the ordinance.

“All covered departments and units are mandated to offer a digital mode of collecting payment for taxes, fees, tolls, and other charges and impositions”. “The municipal government will facilitate the adoption of digital. payments by all merchants operating within municipality of Morong. For this purpose the municipality government will ensure that merchants have access to approprate digital solutions and have the capacity to use the same”, also stated in the ordinance. Sangguniang Panlalawigan recently approved the ordinance.

The legislative piece is in line with RA 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Services Delivery Act of 2013 that seeks the use of digital payment means for receiving government collections and for making government disbursements. Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 434 also enjoins all municipalities and city in Bataan to adopt transition to digital payments for government disbursement and collections.
